Molly the three-legged cat
Molly had been bounced around a lot in her life. First surrendered to a shelter here in Montana – why she was turned in we don't know – she was eventually adopted by a college student who felt sorry for her because Molly was missing a rear leg.
But the student couldn't keep Molly, and so she ended up at the student's parents' home. Yet they couldn't keep her either.
Concerned what would happen if this disabled cat ended up back in a shelter a second time, the student asked us if we could take Molly. Here at the ranch, Molly wasn't too sure about all the other cats in the cat house. She was very timid and quiet, and clearly wanted a place of her own to hide out. So we set her up with a private 'cat condo' inside the cat house, and she rarely ventured out of it for her first several months.

But eventually Molly realized all the other cats were friendly – and just as disabled, if not more so, than she was! One day we found Molly sunning herself by a cat house window, and after that she never went back to her condo.
Now she loves to hang out with her new buddies. Usually when we go into the cat house, we find her curled up with another cat, snuggling and enjoying the companionship.
